Are you starting to think about Thanksgiving? Looks like it is going to be here before you know it
This weeks recipe was from an old grade school classmate, Gail Conner Keady . She says these recipes were her mother’s favorites and were always requested every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pear Bread

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup yogurt or buttermilk
1 cup coarsely chopped, ripe, cored pears
1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter, gradually beat in sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine dry ingredients; add to egg mixture alternately with yogurt. Stir in pear and vanilla. Pour into butter 9x5x3 greased loaf pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.

And to serve with the pear bread, how about apple butter?
