Hearty Ham and Onion Melts from Campbell's Kitchen
Prep/Cook Time: 20 min.
Ingredients:
Vegetable cooking spray
1
small red onion, thinly sliced
3
tbsp. balsamic vinegar
4
slices Pepperidge Farm® German Dark Wheat Natural Whole Grain
Bread
2
oz. deli-sliced reduced-sodium ham
2
oz. Muenster cheese slices OR provolone cheese slices
Directions:
SPRAY
nonstick skillet with vegetable cooking spray. Heat skillet
over medium heat 1 min. Add onions and cook until beginning to
soften. Add vinegar and cook 2 min. or until onions are
softened and most of the liquid has evaporated.
TOP2 bread slices with ham, cheese,
onion mixture and remaining bread slices. SPRAY nonstick
skillet with vegetable cooking spray and heat over medium heat
1 min. Place sandwiches in skillet. Cook until browned and
cheese is melted. Serves 2.
These sautéed
onions can be made ahead and kept, refrigerated, for two days.
